19-005-RO Alert Note Cyclone Idai in Malawi, Mozambique and Zimbabwe

Malawi: At least 922,900 persons have been impacted, including an estimated 460,000 children. More than 15,000 families have been displaced, with at least 187 camps established to house them. Mozambique: Communication lines have been down since Friday, March 15, rendering communication hard. Initial Government figures estimate 600,000 persons are affected, including 260,000 children. Zimbabwe: No official figures yet. At least 145 houses have been swept away, 4 major bridges have been destroyed or damaged, and more than 100 people are feared dead.
