19-020-SP Alert on Conflict in North-Eastern Afghanistan
Conflicts between Afghan security forces and Taliban have been running since August 2019in the Kunduz province and there have been attacks on Kunduz city in the period from August to September 2019. 10.000 households in the Kunduz province have been displaced and they are in dire need of food and cash in order to pay the rents of their houses and supply heating fuels for the approaching winter. These IDPs have been displaced from Imam-Sahib, Dashte Archi, Khan Abad, Qala-e Zal, districts including outskirts villages of Kunduz city.They have been settling in the centre of the Kunduz province for the last 1-3 months. Due to recent conflicts and attacks between Afghan Security Forces and Taliban during the course of the last 2 months, nearly 10.000 households have been displaced in the outskirts of Kunduz city and its districts. People are now dwelling in cities and districts centers. Among these households, 3000 of them are surveyed by partner organizations and the Provincial Directorate of Refugees Repatriation of Kunduz province, which only 1726 households are deemed to be real IDPs. So far 1072 households have been given the primary assistance and the remaining 654 households have not received any assistance from any source. |
