Alert note: Gaza Humanitarian crisis: Help needed now

Støtteforeningen Det Danske Hus i Palæstina has submitted an alert note due to humanitarian crisis in Gaza.

As of the 11th of November, more than 11.000 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza, and more than 27.000 have been injured (OCHA 20/11). However, this number is very likely higher since the Ministery of Health (which UN bodies rely on), has not updated cumulative casualty figures following the collapse of services and communications at hospitals in the northern Gaza (OCHA 19/11). Hospitals, schools, residential buildings, mosques, bakeries, water pipes as well as sewage and electricity networks are being targeted: nowhere in Gaza is safe. 1,7 million Palestinians in Gazahave been displaced since the 7th of October.

The situation caused severe human insecurities among Palestinians in Gaza, depriving them of, among others, personal, community, food, and health and economic security. The unlawful blockade of Gaza has included “catastrophic cuts to water, fuel, and electricity, as well as very limited deliveries of food, water, and medical supplies” (Human Rights Watch), exacerbating food and health insecurities. 9 out of 22 of the UNRWA health centers are operational. Likewise, Palestinians are standing in queue for over six hours to get a piece of bread or a bottle of water.
