Drought and famine in Galmadug Somalia (17-013-RO)(not activated)

Decision: Not to activate the DERF to respond to the experienced drought and famine in Galmadug, Somalia Reasons: (1) The DERF was activated on 03 May 2018 to respond to the slow onset food insecurity crisis experienced in Somalia and the DERF in connection herewith supported a number of Danish non-HPA CSOs to respond to the same in Somalia (including in Galmadug). The current submitted alert does not provide information to substantiate that the experienced humanitarian crisis is either a new crisis or is a spike in the ongoing crisis; and (2) Only 1 other Danish non-HPA CSOs is known to CISU as having an active presence and capacity for DERF funded interventions in the Galmadug region of Somalia in addition to the Alerting organization. This is assessed as too narrow a base upon which to activate the DERF.
