A series of violent attacks in early July in Bam province, Centre-Nord region, caused a new wave of displacement. Since mid-July, Bam province, Centre Nord region, has recorded a spike in IDPs seeking safety in the urban areas of Bourzanga Centre and Namssiguima.
New Funding Guidelines for the Danish Emergency Relief Fund (DERF) coming into effect as of 19. August 2019 will be launched during meetings Monday the 19. August 2019 in Aarhus and Thursday the 22. August 2019 in Copenhagen.
The DERF has activated a call for applications for humanitarian interventions related to the humanitarian effects of the monsoon affecting huge number of people, including refugees from Myanmar in Bangladesh. For more information, please refer to the attached call for applications. The Call closes for applications on 18.08.2019 at 23:59.

In the past few years were many of the mentioned cities in Afghanistan hit by drought, but surprisingly since the beginning of the spring 2019 has most of the cities been affected by continuously rain.
Afghanistan has been extremely preoccupied with war and therefore you can almost not notice any infrastructure progress - neither in cities nor in the countryside.

DERF is experiencing an overwhelming demand for support and has this year already received 9 humanitarian alerts leading to resources allocated for DERF being under heavy pressure.
